Professor Asha Bowen has been honored with the prestigious Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours. This recognition is a testament to her outstanding contributions to medicine, particularly in the field of clinical diseases.

Driven by a deep commitment to improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, Professor Bowen has dedicated the past 15 years to finding ways to prevent the many complications arising from skin infections. Her recognition for impactful work in skin infections and other infectious diseases in children, particularly those often overlooked in regional and global health strategies and underserved communities, is a significant achievement for the field of pediatric infectious diseases.
