WSPID President, Asha Bowen recognized as a national leader in infectious disease research after being elected as a Fellow of the esteemed Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences!

We’re extremely proud that our president, Professor Asha Bowen, based at The Kids Research Institute Australia and working with pediatricians at Perth Children’s Hospital, was among 31 new Fellows inducted into the Academy in Adelaide this morning. As the Head of the Healthy Skin and ARF Prevention team at the Wesfarmers Centre and a Professor at The University of Western Australia, Professor Bowen has been honored for her significant contributions to improving skin health for Aboriginal children in remote communities.

Her research, developed in collaboration with Aboriginal researchers and community members, has been instrumental in reducing the prevalence of painful skin infections and serious illnesses such as sepsis, rheumatic heart disease, and kidney disease.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Bowen for receiving this prestigious honor!
